Little Girl's Life

Little Girl's Life
(A free verse poem)

A little girl came to this world
She had dark brown eyes and had a cute chubby smile.
Mommy and Daddy were so happy to have her.
They took her home and everyone welcomed her with open arms.
Her two grandmothers would laugh as the little infant would play with those little dolls given to her.
And she’d be held by daddy with his strong arms, Mommy would kiss daddy on the cheek.
Little girl was happy…
Little girl’s life was so peaceful.

Years later, little girl started to dance
She became a ballerina.
Mom was so proud!
She’d clap her hands as she would see her daughter dance on center stage with her other ballerina friends.
But where was daddy? Where was granma from dad’s side?
Why did he leave mommy and me alone?
She would ask her mom…
“Why didn’t daddy attend my ballet recital again?”
She would just smile and pat the little ballerina’s head and say,
“Daddy’s at work.”
Little girl didn’t mind that daddy was away,
Because she knew that he’d eventually come back…
The little girl is now an elementary student.
Going thru the first grade, she moved on the second grade with flying colors.
Grandma was proud, so was Mommy…
But then,
Mommy wasn’t there to put that shiny medal around her neck.
Mommy was working…
Somewhere far from her home.
Though Mommy comes home from work,
She’d only stay for a day or two
Then she’d go back to her office.
Everytime Mommy would leave for work,
Little girl run towards her and beg for her Mommy to stay.
Little girl felt so lonely without Mommy…
Now she was left with Granma.
She felt so down, and so was her performance in school.
Then, little girl hits puberty…
And her problems grew worse
She became more naughty and stubborn
She’d hurt her friends verbally
She’d get mad because she won’t accept her faults.
She even learned how to rebel.
She’d complain about many things
She’d give her grandmother a hard time raising her.
She became one heck of a pain.
She just couldn’t express herself properly anymore.
She felt really lost; you couldn’t see it but she felt lost.
Then one day, she found out a horrible truth,
The reason why daddy never came home, or to any of her ballet recitals
The reason why she couldn’t remember what he looked like….
Daddy left mommy when she was only little,
And left them for another woman.
The girl was furious and grew angry at her father.
But past is past…there’s nothing she could do to change it.
The little girl was now a big girl and has matured into a beautiful lady
She is now in her high school life.
And her academic performance has been revived once more.
She’s gained new friends and also enemies.
She would act mature in front of others
Yet they all could tell that she was just pretending…
You see…
Even though little girl was now a big girl,
Deep down in her heart, she was still a Little Girl
A fragile and weak little girl.
She once shed sweat and blood on her project for the science fair.
Then with a blink of an eye…
It was destroy by her classmates.
She went on a rage and was about to hurt one of boys playing with planet mercury…
Luckily her friends stopped her.
She learned to control her emotions
And again, she grew up
She excelled nicely in her 2nd year in the high school life.
She gained more confidence on herself
Her abilities evolved and she even gained new ones.
She joined different kinds of tournaments
She failed yet she succeeded.
She again thought that her life was peaceful
But  she was wrong.
Her past haunted her once more.
One night, her father’s mother along with his fraternal twin sister came to their house.
They wanted to take her away from her mother.
And you know?
She didn’t get angry or break down into tears.
All she did was ignore what they just said and continued to live her life normally.
But then…
Mommy lost her job.
She couldn’t support her daughter anymore
She’s been searching for good jobs
But couldn’t find any yet…
Then Daddy offered Mommy a job.
Big girl was NOT happy about this
NOT happy at all…
True, her dad has done a lot of mistakes
To her and to her family
But she still loves him…she doesn’t know why
But she still loves him.
However, letting her mother work with her father is the last thing she’d let him do.
That night, she told her mom to call her
And they discussed the matter thoroughly
The big girl became a little girl again
She cried as she begged for her mother to not accept it.
Her mom, knowing how she’d react, told her that she never planned on accepting the offer.
Little girl was happy.
A few months later, Mommy found a job!
Little girl was even happier!
Now daddy would stop bugging mommy!
One of her problems was solved!
She was glad but it wasn’t enough.
Though her family problems were somewhat solved;
Her school problems weren’t…
Her academic performance was plain average and she had nothing wrong with that.
She recited and was active
But that was only how things started.
As time passed by, she slowly crashed…
She got discourage by her classmate’s painful words.
She was hurt…she started to thing negative things.
She kept crashing down…
She turns to her sisters where she felt like herself.
They were her sanctuary.
 But that wasn’t enough.
When she reached her 3rd year in her highschool life
She met her greatest challenge ever.
She was dumped into a class filled with brainiacs and assholes.
 She couldn’t handle the environment
Luckily her best friend was still there
Not for long though.
Her best friend then started to skip classes
Which meant she had to face the chaotic world in her classroom
ALONE…
What could she do next?
